Personality

Cookie is a gentle and truly affectionate girl, calm, obedient and showing a great amount of integrity in early stage. She has good bone, long legs, beautiful angulations, a straight posture and a well defined head structure. To increase genetic diversity in our current lines we intentionally aimed for a stock coated sire, bringing a unrelated line into our pack. Intelligent puppies with a medium level of energy, will to please, yet independent enough to make own choices was the target and I have to say we got exactly that with this litter. As always we choose the puppy that shows the best adaptation towards service and therapy work, being calm, caring and unreserved towards humans and puppies. Two of her brothers are being trained for detection work and doing a really good job. With her tall, athletic anatomy and her shorter coat, Cookie will be a dog for all kinds of activities, preferably swimming and running. She is a good observer, bonds closely to her master and is not easily distracted. She is brave and trusting. In unfamiliar situations or places she stays calm and trusts me to walk her through it.

She also has the strong, deep red and chocolate pigment we wished to achieve with a marvellous coat quality. We are curious how she will develop. As carrier of long coat she will produce long stock coat and stock coat puppies in future. We had her pre-x-rayed and can say that it looks really good and all other health results are great too. Her final x-rays will be done in a few months. She’s a promising girl with a lot of potential. And I have to admit, the shorter coat is a lot easier to maintain.

Trivia:

  • Cookie often has  her stealth mode on. She is a silent observer and sometimes she stands completely still behind something and won’t make a sound. And while you are looking for her, she literally stands next to you and you won’t see her.
  • Cookie is a quiet dog, but she has impressing guarding skills and a deep, thundering voice. With her fixed stance and poker face she is difficult to read for a stranger and she’s quite good in making herself look fierce to an outsider.
  • When she is happy (especially in the morning when we go out), she mutates into a bouncing ball making guinea pig sounds.
  • Cookie once painted my living room in different colours, after I left her home alone and she decided to pull out a bag of paint from under the bed. That’s what you get if you think you’re puppy is ready to stay home alone and you stay away longer than planned. Next to the carpets she had stains in all colours on her coat, a green nose and purple paws with yellow on the ears. And when she walked out, even coloured footsteps spred through the snow. It looked quite funny.
