Personality
Yonas mahogany undercoat with black markings glows like smouldering ember in the sunlight and her bright eyes are striking. Yona descent from old DDR lines and complementary to East German Working lines she demonstrates the classic strong bone build, without being overdone or too bulky like many examples we lately see being breed according to the newest trend. After leaving her breeding home and arriving here with us, a completely different world opened up for her. It took her a while to trust, unwind and to show her true personality and enormous gratitude for love and affection given to her. She loves you with everything she possibly can provide and she’s very cuddly. Yona never provokes the other dogs in the pack, never starts trouble and always tries to avoid conflicts but stands her ground fairly when being challenged. She is a solid, open minded, gentle and joyful lady. She is sweet to puppies. Yona behaves well everywhere, never mind if at the vet, in the city or surrounded by people, she stays calm and open towards strangers and other animals. On own property she is selective and has guarding tendencies. Yona has a natural herding drive, medium to high energy, strong focus and perfect food and toy motivation for training. She passed her health tests and x-ray examination with flying colours and is now fully integrated to the pack.
Trivia:
- In Cherokee culture the name Yona means ‘bear’ and it describes her well.
- Yona loves balls and can entertain herself all day long by bringing it up the hill and letting it roll down to chase it.
- When she wants attention, she will freeze next to you, staring at you with flat ears. You will only see a black face with radiant yellow eyes and feel the warm breath of her nose. And she will wait as long until you either pet her or send her away.
- She loves to snuggle op on you with whole her body glued on you and with her face directly in front of yours, so she can watch and sense you.
